Core Functions of BTMS
Temperature Control
Cooling: Batteries generate a large amount of heat during high-rate charging or high-power discharging (e.g., electric vehicle acceleration). BTMS removes excess heat to prevent overheating, which can cause thermal runaway, fire, or explosion.
Heating: In low-temperature environments (e.g., winter below 0°C), battery electrochemical reaction efficiency drops sharply, leading to reduced charge acceptance and discharge capacity. BTMS heats the battery to reach the optimal working temperature (usually 20–40°C for lithium-ion batteries).
Temperature Uniformity: Eliminates temperature differences between individual cells in the battery pack. A large temperature gradient will cause inconsistent aging rates of cells, reducing the overall service life of the pack.
Temperature MonitoringEquipped with temperature sensors (e.g., thermistors, thermocouples) distributed inside the battery pack, it real-time monitors the temperature of key positions (cells, modules, cooling channels) and feeds data back to the battery management system (BMS) for dynamic adjustment of control strategies.
Fault Early WarningWhen abnormal temperature rise (e.g., rapid local overheating) is detected, it triggers early warning signals and cooperates with BMS to take protective measures (e.g., reducing charging/discharging power, cutting off the circuit).
